Humongous Entertainment

Games by Humongous Entertainment localized by Belgian distributor Transposia were at the core of the computer games I played during my early childhood.

Freddi Fish

Most of these games were made with the SCUMM engine. These can be played on modern computers using the ScummVM interpreter. One exception is Moonbase Commander, for which support is still in development. Later the YAGA engine was used. These games are a bit infamous for their perceived lower quality. The engine is not yet supported in ScummVM, but the Linyaga wrapper should be able to run them in the meantime.

Most of the games can be purchased on Steam as part of the Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack, though I would advise to wait for a discount. This publisher does not own the rights to all of the games, though. The rights to Moonbase Commander are with another company, but they also offer the game on Steam. The classic Backyard Sports games are not currently being distributed, and the Blue's Clues titles are likely tangled up because of the use of a license.

Hulabee Entertainment

The original founders and some key employees left Humongous Entertainment in 2001, after failing to buy back the company. They released several games before their premature end. Heavily intertwined with the Disney company, no doubt because of the stellar reputation the predecessor company had, one of the founders unfortunately abused this connection to lie to banks about the extent of the co-operation.

The games run on the Sauce engine, which is unfortunately not supported by ScummVM. Some tools to convert files associated with this engine are available, however.
